Dr. Z's Experiment is a dynamic band based in Cedar Rapids and Iowa City, Iowa. 

Formed in the late 1990s, the band is known across Iowa and the Midwest for its eclectic mix of experimental jazz fusion, jam, reggae, and blues. The core members, Ryan Phelan (guitar) and Ben Franklin (drums), met through Kirkwood Community College's Jazz Program, which laid the foundation for their musical journey.  Jeremiah Murphy (bass guitar) and Luke Viertel (keyboards) were added in the early 2010s to complete the band’s current lineup. 

Dr. Z’s regularly performs in festivals, concert series, clubs, and private functions.

Their performances are known for their energetic and engaging nature, drawing crowds with their unique sound and lively stage presence.
